Aion 2 at gamescom Opening Night Live: What to Expect on August 25

August 20, 20262 min

Aion 2 is confirmed for the gamescom Opening Night Live lineup on August 25 — the last major stage appearance before the global launch opens Advance Access on September 30. With five weeks to go, this is realistically NC’s final window to answer the questions the launch calendar still leaves open. Here is what to watch for.

Updated · August 21, 2026 · pre-show

This is a preview published ahead of the showcase. It will be updated with the actual announcements after the stream airs on August 25.

The three questions the show could close

The exact free-to-play date. Advance Access on September 30 is locked, but the F2P start is still officially “early October” — the specific day NC has never named, despite aggregators confidently publishing one. A launch trailer with a date card is the single most likely ONL beat.

The launch content state. The Korean version has grown through ten months of patches — a raised level cap, new zones, the Season 2 Abyss restructure. Whether global starts at that state or an earlier one changes everything from leveling plans to system requirements headroom, and NC has not said.

Brawler. The ninth class joined KR in July and is absent from the confirmed global launch roster of eight. A “coming to global” date — or a pointed silence — settles the last open class question.

What not to expect

ONL slots are trailers, not deep dives: monetization details beyond the already-announced no-lootbox model, dungeon rosters and balance specifics historically arrive through NC’s own channels after the big-stage moment. If the show gives one date and one cinematic, it will have done its job.

Where to watch

Opening Night Live streams free on Geoff Keighley’s channels on August 25; NC typically mirrors the Aion 2 segment on the game’s official channels shortly after. We will update this post with everything announced — and fold the confirmed facts into our launch guides the same week.
